Today I packed up more of my house, made more arrangements for our numerous moves, and made a “to-do” list so I don’t lose details in the process.
Today, my husband will be escorted out of the door of the building that has been like a second home to him for 11 years. He will be walked to the door and he will hand over his identification badge. He will say good-bye to his friends and colleagues, with whom he has shared a laboratory space, an office space, and a work place culture.
Today we will talk about the last day at his civilian job. The last week as a civilian. The last week we have together before he ships out.
Today, I understand a little more clearly the love that a wife can have for her husband when he takes a stand and moves up and forward on a conviction. I loved him very much when we married. I love him even more today. God’s grace is very good — today, and always.

I hope the last day went well. That’s gotta be tough leaving the old world behind and exciting to be stepping into a new one.
Best wishes to you and your family with this HUGE change.

It really is a plunge! Sometimes it’s terrifying and other times it is exhilarating. Today, though, it is just exhausting. Still packing.
