Our guns went from big…
… to even bigger! Bryan was branched this past Friday and he wound up in Field Artillery. We were both scratching our heads over that one! Considering his background in chemistry, I think we both had figured that he would wind up in a laboratory somewhere. Don’t get me wrong. Neither of us are complaining! We both knew when we made this decision that the Army would put him where they needed him the most, and he is dedicated to doing the best job he can do where ever he is placed.
It will be a new experience for him, and he will bring a high level of professionalism and conscientious work with him to Field Artillery — as well as an open mind. He will be learning a lot of new information and expanding his own skills and knowledge base. I am excited for him because I know my husband loves a good challenge and he loves to learn. Besides he gets to be around a bunch of massive guns all the time.

See, the guns just keep getting bigger and bigger.
I wonder what living on an Artillery base is going to sound like!
Ft. Sill (OK) is the home of the Field Artillery, and is where we will be heading to eventually. It will be a little while before we are ready to PCS there, but it seems as though that is where our home is headed. Now I need to start getting the family ready, and I need to know what in the world Oklahoma is like in the various seasons. Who knows where Field Artillery will take us after BOLC II and III? Only the Army knows – and they never give away a good secret!

you need to check with Greta at Hooah Wife. She came from Oklahoma. Her husband has just recently retired from the Army. She should be of great assistance for you.

Thanks for the heads up Stacy! I will definitely have to connect with her. I already have some questions about FA uniforms.
NGW: Hey, it’s a deal! We will have to meet for sure. That would be a blast. Personally I think we should meet in Hawaii for a well deserved week off from all chores, but I will take a good place to eat somewhere between your corner of the world and Ft. Sill.
Tornadoes, huh? Do we get extra pay for hazardous living? Maybe I will be so accustomed to hearing Artillery fire in the backdrop of my life that the roar of a tornado will not even phase me.

I think you will like it. I have learned there is always something good no matter what you have to deal with.
Hawaii when i graduate with my BS deal? Then I will deserve it and have no guilt for taking off sans Kiddos. If we eat we need a good bookstore to wander through to work off our yummy meal and then have a chai tea latte.

OK! The deal keeps getting better and better!
I agree about the bookstore and chai tea! Wow, is PCSing always this fun to plan?! Uh, don’t answer that — truthfully anyway. Let me have my moment of ignorant bliss!

Jack Bauer was field artillery right out of OCS. He’s been to Ft. Sill. I am sure he would answer any questions you have about school, Lawton, and the seasons he spent there. Email me.

I will definitely be emailing you! I mainly have some questions around uniforms and useful graduation gifts for someone in FA. Thanks for the offer.
