A man may work sun to sun…

Have you heard this old saying “A man may work sun to sun, but a woman’s work is never done”? I think that there is definitely some truth to this statement, and I don’t think that it necessarily paints men in a bad light. I am pretty sensitive to male-bashing. I guess it’s from being a mom to 3 of them and a wife to 1! I just think that as women we see things through a different lens. It’s not better nor is it worse… it’s just different

Let’s see today I worked out, ran errands and took Nate all over the place for work and play. I took care of Emma, cleaned my house, got my laundry all caught up, did some yard work and cleaned out my extremely complicated coffeemaker inside the reservoir and all.

So, tomorrow morning, if I get up early enough, I should be able to sip coffee made from a nice and almost new coffee pot, sit on my couch and watch the window show. We have 3 deer who walk around our neighborhood looking for yummies. They stay away from people and that’s good, but they are fun to watch.

Last, but not least on my list of important things to do today — well, actually this was number one on my list — was to encourage my husband. We talked a lot today. We had moments of talking fast and furious (not furious with one another that is) all the way to awkward moments of silence. When we hung up tonight he sounds much more like himself than he did this morning. That’s an awesome feeling.

  1. Aww, that is so great!

Can I just say that you rock?

    :)

  2. Borrowing lyrics from Helen Reddy’s song from years ago:

    “Oh, yes I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain.
    Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I’ve gained.
    If I have to
    I can do anything.
    I am strong
    I am invincible
    I am woman.

You can bend but never break me
‘Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal.
And I come back even stronger
    Not a novice any longer
‘Cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my soul.”

    You go girl!

Glad to hear Mr. Hooah is gaining in his recovery.

The above song is for you too, Mel.
You are strong and carry on through depths of sorrow.

  3. Thank you Mel, and it is definitely a mutual admiration society! :) I think you rock too!

Cathy, Oooh, I love that phrase in that song. Although I am usually singing “I am woman hear me snore!” ;P

  4. I know what you mean about work never ending… sometimes I feel like I’m adrift in housework. It’s amazing that you still have strength left over to give to your husband. Echoing Mel, You Rock!
