Guest Blogger

Starting tomorrow I am having a “guest blogger.” He is a former Officer Candidate who had a pretty severe fracture during the last part of his training in OCS. He is currently rehabilitating his leg and trying to navigate his way through the choices he has in regards to his future in the Army. He holds degrees in both the arts and the sciences, he has a wife (who is very wonderful… we’ll talk about that later ;) ) and a whole mess of kids who range in age from “legally able to order a beer” down to “apple-juice-drinking-crumb-snatcher.”

Yes, I am talking about the one, the only, Mr. Hooah! He will be here to chat about his adventures in BCT and OCS — this is his quintessential “What I Did On my Summer Vacation” presentation! You won’t want to miss a minute of it.

Other news on the home front today, Mr. Hooah! has started his own Cafepress shop to sell his original art work on items such as framed prints, note cards, and the like. If you get a moment, please take a peek:

  1. I’ll look forward to the blogging, but found a perfect gift for one of my soldier’kids’ at Cassidy House!!!!

  2. I am looking forward to him telling his stories too. I love to hear the stuff these guys do when they are in training.

I am also glad you liked the shop and found something! He has just started and he plans on doing some good Patriotic/Military art and adding it soon. Please let us know if you do oder how the product is… with CafePress it is ordered and printed on demand so we don’t get to see it before it leaves the Press. They normally do very good products, but I always like to be 100% sure that everything went well with a purchase.

  3. Great! Will look forward to the Guest Blogger post.

  4. Claire, I found something to order for my Soldiers! In addition to ordering them, will definitely check the Guest Blogger posts tomorrow…

  5. I did order - the notecards - for a soldier from Tennessee who is a writer - and likes nice note cardes - thought it was the perfect gift. I will let you know how they are!

  6. I hope he likes them! It’s great since that landscape graced the cover of a book written by an East TN author — a lot of connections to home there for him. That is very thoughtful, and I am sure it means a lot to your soldier.

  7. Cathy, I hope you are enjoying it as much as he is! I think it’s been good for him to write out these experiences. He went from total submersion to nothing in no time flat, so he needed to process somehow.

Piper, If you order anything, please let me know how it is. I do hope it all comes out beautifully, but so far I have been pleased with CafePress — I just wish there was someway for us to approve what leaves the print shop!

  8. meant to get back to you on this - the cards arrived really quickly - ordered the 23rd and got them the 28th. They are nicely packaged and well done!

Also - in transit to Iraq! Thank you!

  9. Thank you so much for the feedback! That makes us feel so much better about using a print on demand shop. It’s hard when you have to trust quality control to an entity you don’t know personally! I hope your soldier enjoys them, and what a thoughtful idea you had. It’s nice to get care packages, but I bet getting that little something unique makes them feel very appreciated and thought of.
