An Invocation

(Nate and Elizabeth before the ball. She is also a JROTC student. )
Nate attended his very first Military Ball last night. He was asked to write and recite an Invocation, so I thought I would share what we came up with. Yes, we. It was a joint effort. We worked on it together. We used a traditional Invocation and combined our own words and a quote from Coolidge.
Father in Heaven,
We thank Thee for our food, and remember the hungry.
We thank Thee for our friends, and remember the friendless. We thank Thee for our Freedom, and remember the cost.
We thank Thee for our Defenders, and remember that ‘a Nation which forgets its Defenders will itself be forgotten.’We thank Thee for our daily bread and remember that all good things come from Thee alone.
To Thee all Glory is given.
Amen.

I love a well-written invocation – with poetry and grace! Well done!
For a grin….here’s a completely irreverent one from my boarding school days:
Lord, bless this bunch as they crunch their lunch.

Piper — I love your silly one! I get the feeling that there were a lot of giggling girls in that Boarding School! I love reading your stories about your time there. I will have to make a post to let folks know about your new blog. It’s a great read!
Cathy, Heather, Flag Gazer – thank you! I was very pleased with the end result
and Flag Gazer — the Ball was wonderful. He had an excellent time! I will add a picture to the post of he and his date. She too is a JROTC student!
