Claire and the horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day
OK, so it wasn’t THAT horrible, or maybe it was. I have been battling server monsters, germ occupation of the toddler kind, and computer imps that have slowly chipped away at my computer’s well being and my mental health. In comparison to the kind of day I am sure Mike had in Iraq I really shouldn’t complain, but I am human enough to complain anyway.
Do you ever have days where you are not sure what came first, the stress or the problems? Was the stress already there and so the problems seem amplified, or are the problems really that intense so they have caused you some stress? I am still trying to figure out my “chicken or egg first” dilemma.
In the meantime I am going to post a new cartoon from Mr. Hooah! Be on the lookout for a cool new cartoon blog site in the near future. I am helping to figure it all out and setting up the design. It will be paid for with the final shred of sanity I possess. That’s a little dramatic. No, that’s not dramatic at all. You might agree if you had to watch the wild-eyed looks I was giving to everyone when I was having server problems earlier.
So, the night is winding down. The baby is in bed and sleeping in spite of being a little ill. We’ll see how she is really doing through the night… any parent can tell you that the nighttime is generally the litmus test for the severity of a cold or flu. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that maybe she just had a sick tummy today for a reason other than the flu.
Check out the cartoon, and I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday. Are you getting your Spring weather where you are? Chime in and let me know what it’s like in your neck of the woods.

I’ve been away for a while so I read back through some of your posts and hit on the one about being the mom of a deployed soldier. Loved your comments about the turmoil of pride and fear…so true. And I found it interesting that your son turned 22 when he arrived in Kuwait because Seth turned 24 on the day he deployed in 2005. We’re about to play that game again this summer…at least that’s the plan…another deployment for Seth. I wonder if it will be easier or harder this time…..
So glad to see your blog back up and running - I was curious about it earlier today…kept getting error messages.
Hope your little one is much better tomorrow morning.
I hope the little ones tummy feels better soon.
Its pretty cold here, the sun peeps out every once in a while getting us all excited about spring and then trades itself in for the snow flurry here and there.
Brr! :)
Hope the server issues have been cleared up and the stress level has decreased. Also hope the little one is doing better and everyone had a good night’s sleep. It’s rain, rain go away up here. Two days without sunshine and it is sorely missed. But if the rain brings spring flowers, then sprinkle away! Take care of yourself, look forward to viewing the new blog site.
What is wrong with the little one???? Hope your day has settled down now!
Hi Kristen
Remember how funny she was acting at dance class yesterday? Well, apparently the little miss has some kind of bug (I am so glad she didn’t hug G good bye yesterday after all!) Anyway, she has a low grade fever and had some vomiting. The fever is staying low, so I am assuming it’s a virus.
I am thinking of you all tomorrow and will be praying. I would love to post something to let people know what you and C are doing. I will get your permission first… and will change the names to protect the innocent! :) Tell C we are rooting for him!
Hi KBug — it’s so good to see you. I am sorry to hear that you have another pending deployment coming up. I am willing to bet that second deployments are both harder and easier. You know more about the logistics of what is going on, but I don’t think that the stress of it is ever easier — not for a mama. You know though, I am hoping one thing that makes it easier is that you have even more support now than you did with the first one. (((hugs)))
Hi Piper, Oh server issues drive me batty — especially when I know it’s out of my control. Not that my control is all that great, but I am human and want to rule the universe. ;) Emma is about the same. I think she has a virus. Considering we have gone all winter and have not been horribly ill at all… I will take that!
Jade!! You aren’t supposed to be having snow flurries!! Ack! I thought that it was illegal for snow to fall in the Spring! That’s definitely a joke considering we had one of our biggest blizzards ever in April! Hang in there… the sun will be nice and toasty for us all again soon.
Ah, Cathy I hate that the sunshine was taken away! You deserve a good week of solid sunshine and a wonderful breeze that is just the right temperature. Emma’s still a little sick here, so I don’t know when we will be well enough to venture out again. She isn’t horribly ill, so I think it’s just a virus that needs to run its course… lots of water, rest and rice to eat (that’s all she wants)
Sure! Post away!!!
Hope little one is better!
Thanks Kristen. I will do a little write up and then send it to you first. Is Cliff gone now, or does he leave later? I woke up this morning thinking of you two. I remember dropping Bryan off at the Recruiter’s station and driving away in a surreal haze. I am praying for you. Let me know if you need anything.
He’s gone. The moment is recorded in my blog. It both better and worse than I imagined. We will be at the gym in the morning!!!
