I know it sounds so simple
I got an email today. It was a request from Mike. He has ordered a hard cover guitar case, but the company doesn’t ship to APO addresses. He asked me to figure out how to ship it to him.
Now, I know this doesn’t seem like much of anything on the surface, but you all realize why he is asking for a hard guitar case, don’t you? Yep! You guessed it. He is preparing for redeployment in the near future. It’s still a handful of months away, but we are truly on the downswing of this long 15-month deployment.
Please pray that his legs, heart and mind stay strong! He still has a lot of work ahead of him, and we are entering the season when violence does tend to have an upswing. Being in Diyala makes the Springtime a little more scary too. Enough of the worry though. Tonight I am celebrating early. I am celebrating because I know it won’t be long and he will be back here on American soil.
I am celebrating because I can’t wait until he can lay his head on a clean and comfortable bed, sleep in a real room with walls around him, sleep as long as he needs to, eat homemade meals, take a hot shower, and not have to walk around with over 50 pounds of gear on when he leaves the house.

The home stretch so to speak. Amen. Praying for all the men and women overseas daily, perhaps there will come a day when all will be home. Just got off the phone with Jonathon. He will most likely be deployed in January after two months training in Mississippi. Right now the unit they will be joining is scheduled for Kuwait, but things change. Ugghh…
Let us know how the case gets shipped! I know you’ll find a way!

Its so good to hear you are on the “downswing” of the 15 month deployment. You all are in my prayers and I hope for a fast and speedy return.
Its funny how something as simple as a guitar case being sent over to Mike can mean so much more than just a place to put his guitar. It means hope…and celebration.
We are celebrating with you

Miz Claire,
When you ship that guitar case, are you gonna fill up all that emptiness inside with goodies? Wouldn’t that be a hoot?
Go to your local music shop and see if they have a empty box that will fit the bill.
I’m so happy that y’all are getting closer to the time when he steps back on good ole American dirt.
My clock is ticking down too!! WOOOHOOOO!!
Lots of love and hugs being sent down your way.

The home stretch – what a heart warming phrase! So delighted for you – and am praying for his continued safety.
Now about that guitar….did he take it over with him? Sounds like there’s a story there…

Oh Claire, that’s just the greatest news I’ve heard for a long time!!
So very happy for you and your family. Just think, Spring begins this
month, time is moving on and before you know it you’ll actually be
able to wrap your arms around him again! Go Bless, Nancy

Oh Cathy! If Johnathon goes over you will have become one of the largest distributors of care packages outside of Soldier’s Angels and Operation Gratitude! I’ll be there for you! (((hugs)))
Jade we will just have to have a virtual party when that plane lands! I will
“post a toast!”
KY Woman — AWESOME idea!
Yes, it will be filled with goodies now. I am not sure what I will put in it just yet, but it will definitely be filled with goodies.
Piper — Mike bought a couple of guitars when he got Iraq. Some guys will bring stuff and not want to take it back with them, so they sell it for a very good price ot new guys. He has always wanted to play, and so he is teaching himself and enjoying it. He brought his favorite of the two on leave. I love that he picked something like this up while he was over there… no doubt it was good for him in many ways.
Brat — thanks! The prayers are returned from here too. I hope all is well. I am sure there is still a lot of happy partying going on over at TB now that they are both home !
Hi Nancy! Yes, it’s a very exciting time. I am excited to be on this side of thins, but I am with Cathy too — I can’t wait for the day when it is all of the troops coming home. For now though we’ll celebrate it all one soldier at a time, and one day it will be your soldier walking through that portal on his way home — and I will celebrate with you!
