Today’s Jackass of the Day Award is given to one very deserving jackass, indeed. Mr. Dick Cavett, you should be proud. You, sir, are the biggest jackass I think I have awarded this to. I don’t know. It’s such a hard call, and “jackassishness” is such a hard thing to measure. I think we’ll have a vote at the end of the year to elect our top five over all jackasses of the year. You are sure to be elected in that poll.

Here’s the quote that has bought you this high honor:

Seriously Dick, you really deserve a combat boot to the head for such a stupid, childish, disrespectful, troop bashing comment like that. When you disrespect one soldier you disrespect them all. Those medals and ribbons may be a point of a stupid joke for you, but they represent a tremendous amount of sacrifice and service to the soldiers who wear them. They wear them because they have earned them.

Yep, you are about the biggest jackass yet. Here’s a new slogan for you: “I set out to be a decent human being in my lifetime, but then I saw something shiny…”
