The Mad Minute
The military family who is seeking damages from the “Fred Phelps of T-Shirts” (Dan Frazier) is apparently leaving no fallen soldier’s family behind. They are suing for $40B. They changed the amount from their original $10M dollar amount,
The change, requested Tuesday in federal court in Tennessee, would cover the heirs of all U.S. service members killed in the Middle East since Sept. 11, 2001, and seek $4 billion in compensatory damages and $36.5 billion of punitive damages.
It’s obvious they want to drive home the point that no fallen soldier, his/her name, likeness, or memory is a commodity. It is a treasured possession of his/her family and loved ones.
Good job. I hope they win their law suit and they shut him down for good. The sad part of all of this is they asked politely more than once for him to take their son’s name off of the shirt. This could have all been avoided if a little compassion and consideration would have been afforded them.
Instead he will get a mad minute when they give him all they have got in the court room. I am not too far from the place where this may be heard if it stays in TN. Robin and Michael Read are from Greenville, according to Fox News. I am seriously considering going that day to show the family my support.

This T shirt thing makes me feel sick. I also correlate it with the ‘church’ group that protests at Soldier’s funerals. What in the world has happened to thoughfulness for our fellowman? We were raised to do no harm to others–treat others as you would have them treat you. What happened to the Golden Rule here? Oh yes–it has been replaced by more ‘enlightened’ (NOT!!) man-made proclamations of speak your mind, do whatever you want to when you want to do it and don’t bother to ever think of how your actions could cause more gried to already hurting men and women.
Sorry but this has been a very bad week already and this story just makes me so upset it is hard to express myself…
But really—how would this guy (Mr. Tee Shirt man) feel if it were his son who had died?
It is one thing to have a statement to make about the war or anything else. We are free to do that here in the US. But a MAN knows when to speak and when not to. And a MAN would never, ever use someone’s elses sorrow and loss for his greed or political views.
Go for it–and here is one NW Soldier’s mom hoping the Soldier’s family wins this one for all the Soldiers and all their families!
If I lived near the nest of these vermin, I’d be sorely tempted to go through their trash at 3 am, plant some wireless cameras, follow them around clandestinely wearing black pajamas and a conical bamboo hat, shout Booga Booga at them whenever they emerged to go shopping, stop up their tailpipes with bananas, adjust the crimp of the oil lines to their transmissions, and superglue their master cylinders, and sneak into their bedrooms at night to administer a concrete enema.
And then I’d really get salty.
Seriously, I’m joking above.
To know what I really think of them, buy me a beer at the VFW sometime. I’ll elaborate.
Aimee, few things can get a mom’s heart riled up more than something like this! We can pray that these families get justice when the court hearing comes up!
Al, if you are ever in East TN you will have to let Mr. Hooah! and I know. We will buy you that beer and we would love to hear your thoughts!
