There ain’t no cure for the Summertime blues…

I never knew what that song meant until I had kids. Our activity level and the temperatures are definitely correlated. The warmer it gets the busier we all seem to get. I don’t mind busy, but it does take me away from my blog. I have had a few other frustrating barriers such as computer angst, medical problems (not of the serious kind thankfully), and a toddler whose social calendar is enough to make a Hollywood Socialite jealous.

So, I am still here and KDH is still up and running, so to speak. Here are a few quick updates:

One of my earlier entries on being a military mother will be published in a women’s magazine. I am very excited and will post about that and repost the entry here for the weekend.

Why do I get the feeling this is an entry where you are reading the screen and shaking your head in agreement. You’re super busy and running in a cloud of insanity yourself, aren’t you?! Seasons are so predictable in one regard and so wildly unpredictable in another. I always know I will be busy, busy, busy this time of year. Last year, I was saying good-bye to Mr. H! as he left for Ft. Benning and I was in a temporary house waiting for another move and my main communication with Mike was via IM while he was still in Baghdad. I am yet again very busy, but now I get the awesome pleasure of kissing my husband good-night (instead of only wishing I could), and I am planning Mike’s return home — a party with lots of awesome food, lots of laughter and lots of great visiting time. I can hardly wait.

I am going in for a *GASP* bone graft in my mouth next week. Sounds horrible doesn’t it? Well, the Oral Surgeon didn’t make it sound like too much fun either. He coaxed me into agreeing to the procedure by promising me lots and lots of anesthesia and pain killers. If you thought this blog was interesting before, you just wait until I hop on here after taking a dose of my pain meds. Loose lips, baby!

If you get a moment grab a tall glass of your favorite cold beverage and meet me under the large shade tree. Maybe we can catch up again then and there.

btw, YEA on Mike’s homecoming party! *happy dancing* here. ;-)

  4. Claire I so know what you mean about busy, and how great is it that your story is being published!!!! I was recently part of a piece that was published about how marriage stands the test of time in the military, so I know how that feels…..gotta be proud of yourself, I know I am!!!!!

Sorry about the bone graft, with all that I recently went through, well I will keep you in my prayers and we can hang out together with our pain meds, should be interesting as I try to move during the process :))

I am so glad that Mike is coming home soon, that will be the coup d’état on all of this, the wonderful feelings we have when our loved ones finally leave theater and we can breathe a sigh of relief……I am looking forward to hearing that he has finally made it home.

And there is nothing sweeter then being able to kiss your husband every night :wink

    Have a great day!

  5. Oh Claire, great news on the story being published! Awesome!

About the bone graft, I had that last year, it wasn’t so bad after a few days. While I had much trepidation it ended up being way better than what I feared.

It IS a busy time of year and I would gladly just stop and meet you under the shade tree for an afternoon of respite.

    hugs

  6. Oh yeah for sure will meet you under the shade tree. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as always but will step up extra prayers for your bone graft, hope all goes well and is not too painful. YAY on the magazine what a great accomplishment and SUPER YAY on Mike’s homecoming!!!!

  7. High five on the article being published! Way to go! My hubby had grafting done in several areas a while back. Follow the post-op instructions to the letter. He felt it wasn’t too bad, only took two pain pills afterward. Hope it goes smoothly, you’ll be in my prayers.

  8. Hey ladies, thank you all so much for the prayers, encouragement and kind words. The article is going into a women’s ministry magazine that is set to be distributed for Mother’s Day. I will have to hunt down the information and post the article too.

I am glad to hear that the bone graft isn’t as bad as it sounds. It sounds horrible to me thinking of them taking some of my bone out of the very back of my jaw — the actual graft part doesn’t sound as bad, but that taking out bone part is what has me psyched out a little. :8

ASW, after what you have been through I feel like a cry baby even mentioning the bone graft. You are so kind to encourage me! Thank you, and yes those kisses are awesome — I know you understand that greatly!

  9. Congratulations on being published! That’s absolutely wonderful, Claire!

A bone graft? Yikes….wil be thinking of you….fo hope everything goes smoothly!
