Memorial Day — I think that Google forgot!

The more things change the more they stay the same. This was the scenario from last year — both Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day were completely ignored by Google. I think it’s time for me to go through and get rid of my Google products. I got rid of Blogspot, now I need to get rid of Picasa, Google search, Google Analytics and anywhere else I see the big G. I appreciate Yahoo’s attention to this Holiday.

The Thunder Run has posted screen shots of both major search engines, take a peek, but you won’t be surprised.

  1. And if you write to Google…they respond…with pathetic double speak. I’ve tried…more than once. Ingrates.

  2. Noticed this yesterday when doing a quick search. Normally I look forward to the creative Google graphics, and was most surprised to see nothing. Think I’ll use Ask Jeeves in the future. Stryker Brigade News has a Stryker Memorial Page posted today. Our sincere thanks to all who have served, past and present, as well as thanks to the families who stand in loving support.
    Waiting~anticipating…….

  3. I didn’t notice this until just now. That’s just odd on their part… :rolleyes

  4. It is a very intentional overlook. If you go to zombietime.com she had a contest for people to design a Google sign for the day… some really nice ones have been done! The sad part — they will go out of their way to change the background of their page for Earth Day, but not so much as a “thank you” “kiss my booty” or nothing on Memorial or Veteran’s Day. I am sure they will argue that they are not biased… what a bunch of garbage.

  5. Google doesn’t do a Memorial Day “doodle” because a huge percentage of their employees hates the U.S. and especially hates our military.

I’m not blowing this out my backside. I worked at Google. I tolerated the political culture of that company. Read my latest blog entry for my thoughts on Google’s snubbing of Memorial Day.

Google DID to a doodle last Veteran’s day. You just missed it.

  8. I didn’t realize they did do one last year. That’s good. I wonder if they plan on keeping it up since it was the first time they had done anything for it (I am sorry but I find it disheartening that Munch’s Birthday was recognized before Veteran’s Day ever was. It’s nice that they did it…. I guess I just don’t understand why Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day has been ignored in years past (with the exception of the first Veteran’s Day art from last year.)?
