The other side of the Surge
My son is through surging, fighting, patrolling, and whatever else he was doing in Iraq. He is officially on his way home. I am not at liberty to say much more, but I wanted you all to know that he is officially no longer in a war zone as I type this.
He is coming home. I think that is the sweetest sentence I have ever typed.

Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for sharing our joy and enthusiasm! I am anxiously waiting for that official call from him from his cell phone here in America. I will update the blog as soon as I get the call — unless, of course it comes at 3am. ;)
Fantastic news, Claire!!! I know it will be wonderful to have Mike back home safe and sound. I look forward to seeing him again and shaking his hand once he’s been home for a bit (won’t interrupt family time for a while).
Take care and it’s good to know you can finally breathe again…

Get ready to cry…a lot.
My tears started waiting for the busses carrying my son April 25 and haven’t abated much since. I had no idea I was holding so much in–I’m ex-military! I’m tough! and all that other nonsense.
I’m so glad your boy is coming home. Keep the kleenex handy.
