Picture Thursday

Since I am such a slacker and I keep forgetting to post a picture on Wednesday, I have decided to post a picture or several when I actually remember! I love that idea. That’s something I can actually do! So, here are some pictures of our July 4th parade and of the guys on the 5th when they dressed in ACUs and headed out for a ruck march — they are training Nate and preparing him for basic. Yes, the guy was smoked in the rain on the 4th. Nothing like watermelon and smoked teenager on the 4th. To add to the festivities we had a pack of baby skunks running through our yard. Life is always interesting here in Tennessee.

I can’t caption the photos without WordPress freaking out on me. Ugh. So, I wanted to mention here that the color guard you see in the pics below are from my son’s school. He is the tall slender guy in the center holding the TN state flag.

They always fly this huge flag during the parade from a crane.  This year there was a little girl who was standing with her hand over her heart before the parade started. She was standing and saluting her flag. She was so proud. I couldn’t get a good picture of her, or I would have shared it. It was so precious!

Ah, here are the objects of my affection (minus one son and one little precocious princess). Toy Soldier in the first picture, and Boy Wonder, Mr. Hooah! and Toy Soldier in the next standing in front of our American and Blue Star family flags.

I used my magical powers and turned them into newts! Well, I meant to turn them into newts, but the spell went wrong. Don’t worry. They got better. ;)

    WooHoo!
All the Hooah! men look great! Makes the heart burst with pride to see them in their ACU’s, and to watch them march in parade dress.

What a sigh of relief you must have breathed with all of them at home..

Hugs to all the Hooah’s! :smile

BIG smiles here! Can I also say – even as an alien ;) – that the sight of your flag flying, also gives ME goosebumps. (And oh yes, bratdog and I often *meet* critters like that in our neighbourhood. Quite exciting if I haven’t had enuff coffee yet…lol

    HOO-frickin-AAAAAH!

Kasey I love that flag too! It’s a wonderful site to look forward to every year! I especially love to watch the older veterans on the floats. They immediately look up and salute that beautiful Flag when they see her! :)

KYWoman, oh yes! It has been so awesome to see them all here! :) We have not scheduled our cookout yet. I am hoping to nail a date down this weekend. I will let you know… and you know the invitation stands! I will email you as soon as I know something!

Brat, you may be a Canadian resident, but you are definitely family! :ch

Question: How is it that the Boy Wonder looks better than either me or Toy Soldier in ACUs … and he isn’t even but a freakin recruit!! :wink

    I’m so jealous.

Because its all about perception ya know. :devildog

Love the pictures! The Hooah men look terrific!

I was in a couple parades on the 4th and the sight of the red white and blue – against a cloudless summer sky…always lifts my spirits…
