On September 11 2001, America felt its vulnerability even to threats that gather on the other side of the Earth. We resolved then, and we are resolved today, to confront every threat from any source that could bring sudden terror and suffering to America.

Seven Years…
Seems such a long time, doesn’t it? A blink of an eye in God’s time.
Today people all over the world are remembering the events of that day seven years ago. Where they were, what they were doing when they heard the news, and how they felt. I’m no different from them. I remember every year. I try to remember every day.
Seven years ago…
That day, I was just waking up. I was watching the local 12 morning program on television. Drinking my caffeine fix for the day, making a mental list of all the things I needed to get accomplished.
Suddenly there was a breaking news alert across the top of the screen. I stared in confusion and horror as I read the words as they slowly ticked by.
Oh My God! NO!
This can’t be happening. Not to America. WHY??
I ran to wake up my then SO, GLK.
“Honey, wake up! There’s been a plane just hit one of the World Trade Centers towers in New York. Please, oh please get up!”
We both returned to the living room to watch, stupified as another plane hit the second tower. It was so hard to comprehend for me. Who would be so brazen to attack us in our own country?
Why? What had we done to another country or whoever that would warrant this?
Then the Pentagon was attacked. Total chaos…
Oh my God! Those poor people. I can hear their frantic calls for help. God help them.
Our phone began to ring. Everyone who was near and dear to us wanted to know if we had seen the terrible news.
Yes, We’re watching the news now.
I can’t understand it either.
Why would anyone want to attack us?
Yes, I’ve seen the people in the streets. Yes, I’m still watching it live. It’s horrible. I can’t imagine what their families are going through. Please, whatever you do, pray! Pray that we find out who did this. Pray for all those people in the towers and now the Pentagon. Just keep praying please.
Yes, I’ll be praying too.
I love you…
We continued to watch the news throughout that day and the days following.
My heart hurt for all the American’s who lost their life that day. My heart hurt for all the families who would never be able to take that last phone call, never to hear their own “I love you”. My heart hurt for all the responders who willingly went into a burning inferno to rescue anyone they could. My heart hurt for all the children, the wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, everyone that had family members who were there that day.

I very much like the quote from the unknown. Let us all stand by our colors! :B)
