Is this the unity that Powell talked about?
Powell comes out in support of Obama and one of his arguments is that we need “unity” as a Country. I guess he thinks that Obama is the one to supply us with this unity.
General Powell, why don’t you ask Joe the Plumber and anyone else who has dared to question the Obama camp about anything, what kind of unity is offered to them. It’s called threats, intimidation and public defamation. I have experienced this myself, publicly, when we dared question Obama’s ability to lead the military. Death threats, death wishes on my soldier, and public attacks on me and my family.
I feel the love. No, actually what I feel is a forced facade of “unity” in the name of strong armed political bullying. It’s getting scary.
Unity in a democracy does not come from everyone falling in line and following a leader out of fear or intimidation. Unity in a democracy only comes when our freedoms are upheld above the thin skinned complaints of a public servant. Exercising our freedom of speech is not disunity, it’s actually a form of unity when we all participate in the greater fight for what’s best for our Country.
Of course now Powell can add his name to the following list:
Those who have endorsed or publicly supported Obama for President:
Illinois Communist Party
Communist Party USA
Muslim Americans for Obama
Muslim American Society
New Black Panther Party
Hamas
Qadhafi
Fidel Castro
Al Sharpton
Socialist Party USA
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
George Soros
Michael Moore
Bill Ayers
Jane Fonda
Al Gore
John Kerry
Daniel Ortega
Tony Resko
ACORN
CNN
NBC
MSNBC
Jodi Evans (fundraiser for terrorists)
Colin Powell
Have you noticed the lack of fanfare in the media over Schwarzkopf’s endorsement of McCain? Yeah, I guess that’s for unity’s sake.

Schwarzkopf, who with McCain in 2004 was openly critical of then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld over his handling of the Iraq war, said in a statement the Arizona senator “has served our country with honor in war and in peace.”
“He has demonstrated the type of courageous leadership our country sorely needs at this time. For that reason, he has my complete support,” he said.McCain is in a tight race for the Republican presidential nomination, but most polls show him leading the pack following his wins in New Hampshire and South Carolina. He and his rivals are in Florida Wednesday ahead of the state’s primary on Tuesday.
It is not clear whether Schwarzkopf will campaign with McCain, as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has done.
McCain thanked Schwarzkopf in a statement, saying, “General Norman Schwarzkopf’s distinguished lifetime of service and uncommon devotion to our nation has earned him the respect and admiration of the American people. I am honored by his support.”

Excellent post!!! The word unity should always send up a red flag, it can mean different things to different people and of late it means to keep any thoughts out of your mind that questions this massive scary political machine called the Obama Campaign. Be afraid,be very afraid!! Bulldog Out!!!

Since I don’t GET a vote in your election, I think I can safely say, without fear of the Obama camp trying to re-educate me: Obama has created MORE divisions in America than I ever remember seeing. And I HAVE been watching for a loooooooong time.
It all makes me very sad. Truly, it does.
But Claire, be sure and vote early, and often, in MY name. Should be easy to do, given the voter registration practices the Obama camp is using. If they can register Mickey Mouse to vote, I am SURE a Brat and Bratdog can vote, too,. :8

See Brat, the way it works is we hide voter fraud when the frauds are voting for the Obamessiah, but you can bet your sweet pahtootey that if a fraudulent vote is cast the other direction it will be found out and every media outlet on earth will trumpet the fraud as loudly as possible. It’s just our unbiased media doing their job. :rolleyes

Mr Hooah! *gasp* I am SHOCKED at such cynicism.. :ha You mean to tell me that Obama believes in “spreading the wealth” of votes ONLY when it gives him advantage? :8
I see a re-education camp in your future there. :~

Heh!
I cast my first ever vote as a U.S. citizen this past weekend (early voting!)
Quite an experience. There was a florid man wearing an Obama shirt in line to vote as well. Loudly telling everyone why he was supporting the Chosen One. Basically – electioneering where he shouldn’t be. He was finally told to zip it by another voter and did so – with bad grace. :rolleyes
I was intrigued by his shirt. The picture of Obama was so big, it made the wearer look small in comparision. Whatever. The election judges made him turn it inside-out before they let him in to vote.
Even though I am DIY challenged, just call me Joe the Plumber…

Are you sure you want us to call you “Joe”? I think “Piper the Plumber” has a interesting quality. :B)

BTW: Brat – some of us can’t be re-educated. Some us andithinkyouknowwho will need shot. :lol

Hang on tight everyone-it’s the LAST two weeks of this campaign. And voter fraud is in full swing…. And ‘the One’ will speak before game six of the World Series-for half an hour. :8 Who was it that said Barak Obama would not be granted security clearance based on his associations and background? No media outlet has touched on the Kenya connection yet.
Ugh, I’ll stop at this point.
October 21, 2008
Piper the plumber!!?? Now that has some potential! :ch
Cathy, oh goodness. I am in the place now where I am ready to shut down. Cast my vote, talk to those who really want to discuss the election and not fight anymore. I am over it. If Obama gets the office then we can only pray that there is enough of our structure left to not allow any more socialist garbage to erode away the foundation any more than it already has.

File this under “for what it’s worth” :
I absolutely believe that no matter what happens in America on 4th November (the day before Guy Fawkes Day in England, by the way.. :rolleyes ) America WILL survive, and Americans WILL still have America the Beautiful.
I do not know that much about American history (although I am always learning.lol) BUT I DO know, for sure, that America is so much more than whoever is the President. America has survived slings and arrows before – the vagaries of individual Presidents – and will no doubt again.
BUT no matter WHO becomes President this time, the essence of the America we all hold dear, will prevail and THRIVE!
Of that I am sure.
