I was horrified when I heard of the death mob at WalMart. I work at a Target store and know for a fact that there is nothing in our inventory that is worth dying for. Thankfully our guests this long weekend have conducted themselves extremely well. I have to applaud them and the management of our particular store in keeping priorities (people first) straight.
I ask myself, “What kind of mindset creates an environment where trampling someone to death for some ‘thing’ is permissible?” The only answer that I can come up with is that “stuff” has become a deity for most Americans. Perhaps an economic collapse is going to profit Americans far more than they realize. Financial inability to continue their religious rites at their local StuffMart may force them to look elsewhere for fulfillment and peace. Then, if God wills, they may discover something of infinite worth, God Himself. As Augustin only found emptiness in looking to the things of this world to satisfy he realized, “Thou hast created us for Thyself, and our heart is not quiet until it rests in Thee.” God became flesh and dwelt among us. I pray that my countrymen (and all men everywhere) would discover this, for this is Christmas.

Amen and well put Heidi. I was concerned for you on Friday. I know that we are less likely to see this kind of mob where we live, but still…
If God allows for us to reap the consequences of the careless and Godless ways of our Government, I know He will use it for the good of those who love Him and obey His laws.
