2008 Weblog Awards Finalist
Sometime in the near future you will see a button or banner (not sure yet which style will be offered) announcing that I am a finalist in the Weblog Awards for 2008. I was nominated and chosen in the category of Best Military Blog.
I am in the same category as finalists bloggers like “From my Position… on the way,”, Black Five, Michael Yon, Big Tobacco, This ain’t hell…, etc. etc. I know you are laughing hysterically now because I was! It’s like nominating Nemo for fastest swimmer in the ocean. I am the proverbial gimpy finned fish in the blogosphere. I will send you all reminders, flowers and small cash gifts for each vote I get (well the bribes are a lie but you knew that).
Of course my blog has been greatly enriched over the past several months from the contributions by Brat, KyWoman, Cathy, Wendy, Toy Soldier and the blogging artist formerly known as Mr. Hooah! So, if we win I vote that we should all meet somewhere for a huge nerdy convention with laptops, margaritas and cheesecake. OK, the guys won’t like the fruity drinks and cheesecake part, so they can plan their own menu.
Thank you to everyone who voted during the nominations. I will try not to be the last fish in the bowl, but I can’t make any promises. I can encourage you though, and so I leave you with the following thought:

Congratulations Miz Claire!!
So do the rules limit the number of times we can vote? And I don’t ever need a bribe to vote for my most favorite bloggers….
And I’m with Brat, cheesecake sounds very good, especially with a good cup of fresh coffee. Makes no difference to me as to the time of day. This from someone who eats leftover pizza for breakfast.
And just so you know, my house is always ready for a convention…. Easy access to airports and interstates. So bring em on.

You three ladies have been such a source of encouragement to me over the past year and a half! I don’t know how I would have done it without you. Seriously. I wish they had a “Weblog Award for the most awesome women ever!” award. You all would get nominated by me!!
