Mother’s Prayer
There was a song out years ago by Laury Boone Browning (daughter of Pat Boone) titled “A Mother’s Prayer.” I can’t help but sing it when I read the headlines on the various news papers online. Babies are killed by the thousands every day in the name of choice. There is a precious little lost girl in Florida who will be put in a formal grave this Holiday season.
Today, I read of a little child who wrote a letter to the imaginary Santa asking him to end a very real and horrific nightmare she was living — that was all she wanted for Christmas. That little one got her Christmas wish, but the damage is done and her little life is turned upside down. We execute unborn babies because they are an inconvenience, yet we let convicted murderers and pedophiles live and leave prison even, in the name of human rights. Upside down doesn’t even begin to describe it.
From what I can remember the song by Browning was pretty short, but very beautifully done. It was her soft voice accompanied by an acoustic guitar with a soft strum. If I ever find it I will post it for you. Here are the lyrics I remember:
Lord God of Heaven, we pray,
That our sons and our daughters
will know You, and love You,
and love You as You love them,
Lord, bring justice to our land,
Protect the innocent,
from the evil man and his evil way,
Lord bring justice to our land,
Protect the innocent,
from the evil man and his evil ways.
Lord God of Heaven, we pray,
That our sons and our daughters
will know You, and love You,
and love You as You love them.
