There and Back Again – Done
Well folks, Mr.Hooah! here. Times they are a-changin at the Hooah house. How so? Here’s how so: I’ve made the final decision regarding my Army career.
I’m done.
Unless my current employer hands me a pink slip in the next two months I have no intention of going back into the Army under any circumstances. Too many doors shut and the only doors left open are unacceptable to me. IF … and it’s a big IF … I get laid off before my age disqualifies me then I’ll go back to the Army, go to OCS, and suck it up. But I don’t see that happening. Not. At. All.
I just had “the talk” with my recruiting Sgt. He’s very proffessional. I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone I can. He understood my position. He and I will likely always be networked. Furthermore, if I can ever help my local soldiers I certainly will. But my day is done.
This is the end of an era.
I might still post here once in a blue moon but not likely on military stuff. I guess I’ll still keep doing the cartoon. A few people seem to like it. I’m changing my screen name to Damon as it seems wrong, now, to call myself Mr.Hooah! anymore. And I’m leaving the Army in the capable hands of younger men like my oldest son (soon to be NCO I might add!) and my youngest (soon to be ROTC college bound!). They are both good men. They’ll take care of my Army.
You all take care too. Mr.Hooah!, for the last time, … out!

Yep, the end of an era, but not an error! No regrets, right? I love you.

Damon,
I just want to thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with all of us through your posts.
I know God will bless and use you and your family no matter where He leads you. You are a good man and a credit to our nation.
Blessings,
Aimee
PS: A congratulations is in order for your ‘almost’ NCO son! WTG!!
And to your youngest son–the best as he enters college.

Can I just say that since you ARE married to Mrs Hooah!, you will always be MR Hooah! to me?
Whatever nickname you use, you will always be in my heart, and in my prayers. You belong to one VERY special family over there.
And yes, I DO love the cartoon, too, sooooooooooooo…;)
As I often say: CARRY ON! to the next great adventure..I KNOW it’s going to be a fabulous time for all, with many amazing turns in the road, as God leads.
With love,
Bratty

Well Cuz,
Looks like the Army lost out on one hellova leader. Their loss. And since that door is closing, just keep your eyes peeled for that window that will be opening for you.
If you think we are gonna let you slip away from posting here, you best be thinking again!! As for DBS, Yeah, I agree with Brat. I love your ‘toons. You’ve hit the nail on the head so many times with your cartoons and comments, mayhap you could concentrate a bit more on getting it spread further afield.
Just sayin….
And lastly, with all the decisions that have been made, don’t forget this. ” If God brings you to it, God will bring you through it”.
{{{{Love and Hugs to y’all}}}}

Yeah, I don’t know exactly what he means that he won’t be blogging about military stuff when he has TWO sons serving! Uh-huh Mr! :ch

Can’t add much more to the above sentiments. We’ll look forward to future writing as new paths open. Blessings to you and yours.

You’ll always be Mr. Hooah to me! Whatever happened to ‘a soldier never hangs up his boots’?
Y’know, regardless of how things turned out – you had the courage to reach for a dream. That alone, is simply fantastic as seen from my civilian corner.
Keep going with DBS, please! I thought today’s about Blago was really funny.
warmly,
-Piper

You have served, didn’t you say two sons – one becoming an NCO and one going to ROTC? You are doing fine, and there were folks you served with and led that remember your best and will try to better it or at least match it. And I know that removing the formality of the UCMJ and too many regulations will allow you to be more creative in your support of the military operations and our country’s role in their use and support. I figure that you will always be there to answer a call in the night and discuss a problem, and possible solutions. Yeah, I can count on you, all the way!

Thank you all for the kind comments. Thank you very much indeed.
Earl, how is it that we’ve never met yet you know so much about me? Must be a military thing.
Lets go do some comics.
Take care.

We were surprised to hear that, but happy that you all finally have an answer. Love you all!

Damon,
I know the relief that follows from having finally made a major decision. Don’t second guess yourself. Ever. At. All.
