Jus’ Runnin’
I did it. I actually ran some this morning at the gym. It was 15-degrees outside, so I felt justified running in a controlled climate! Anyway, just a few miles and I did it with a run/walk plan. This is the first time I have been able to really run in about 9-months. Between the bone graft, stress fracture and then hysterectomy last year, needless to say I was not able to do much weight bearing or cardio-intensive work. It felt good to run again. We’ll see how I feel in tomorrow. I took a nice dose of ibuprofen. I learned my lesson a long time ago about training to run.
So, this year, maybe I can actually do the 8K in July. I could be ready for that. Then maybe I can actually do more with the Komen race in October and raise funds in memory of Piper’s Mum and make the race! Big dreams. Of course I had those plans last year, so as we all know, only time will tell. In the meantime, I will plan, train and the accept what ever sucker punches come my way this year.
I leave you with the following quote from one of my favorite Disney movies, The Emperor’s New Groove. Which, by the way cracks me up, because the day I took Damon to the Recruiter’s back in May of ’07 I looked right at him and said Kuzco’s first line… to which he replied and we both in perfect timing recited the entire quote. Parents of young children often quote cartoons when they need just the right words to say.
[Kuzco and Pacha are tied to a tree branch floating in a river]
Pacha: Uh-oh.
Kuzco: Don’t tell me. We’re about to go over a huge waterfall.
Pacha: Yep.
Kuzco: Sharp rocks at the bottom?
Pacha: Most likely.
Kuzco: Bring it on.

Congrats on starting to run again! Hope the ankle reacts well.
15 degrees-WOW, a heat wave from where I’m sitting, ha ha.
Time to watch GWB give his farewell address. Take care!
