The other battlefield
How do you handle tough news that comes to you from a war zone? Have you ever received a call where your soldier informs you that he or she has been wounded? Or a call where he or she tells you of a harrowing day or worse the loss of battle buddy?
I had a few days like that when Toy Soldier was Surging. We are now gearing up for deployment again — and once again it is going to be way ahead of schedule. “Send ‘em early, keep ‘em long, no time in garrison makes ‘em strong!” seems to be the new song of the Infantry.”
So, tell me… how do you deal with “the other battlefield?” The one in your own mind? The one in your soldier’s mind after living and fighting in a war zone? I am thinking about this a lot since we are heading to a new battlefield — but one that is going to be familiar at the same time.
