Welcome back Cah-dah …

I told you all that I am submerging myself in my creative writing. That’s true, but I didn’t tell you all the rest of the story. I have been having a very hard time writing about current events. To be honest I am scared. No, to be honest I am mortified.

When Obama won the election I thought “Hmm, wouldn’t it be nice if he really surprised us all and actually did act as an agent for the Country and not an agent of liberalism and the Democrat Party?” I would love to see any politician act as an agent of this Country. I can only name a few… a very few who actually seem to understand what being a politician is about (and not one of them is from Chicago politics)

Well, the thought was fleeting. It’s a good thing because what we are currently seeing is nothing short of the regurgitation of failed policies, and failed approaches from the past. Unfortunately some of those policies have had deadly consequences for our military in the past.

Welcome Back Carter, take 2:

Obama wants to take us back 20 to 30-years ago:

“My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy — we sometimes make mistakes — we have not been perfect,” said Obama. “But if you look at the track record… America was not born as a colonial power, and that the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago, there’s no reason why we can’t restore that.” SOURCE

Here are a couple of snippets from “20- 30-years ago” in the Muslim world:

25-years ago:

The Beirut barracks bombing was a major incident on October 23, 1983, during the Lebanese Civil War. Two truck bombs struck separate buildings in Beirut that housed United States and French military forces—members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon—killing hundreds of servicemen, the majority of whom were U.S. Marines. The blasts led to the withdrawal of the international peacekeeping force from Lebanon, where they had been stationed since the Israeli 1982 invasion of Lebanon. The organization Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the bombing, but that organization is thought to have been a nom de guerre for Hezbollah receiving help from the Islamic Republic of Iran. SOURCE

30-years ago:

The Iran hostage crisis was a diplomatic crisis between Iran and the United States where 52 U.S. diplomats were held hostage for 444 days from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981, after a group of Islamist students took over the American embassy in support of the Iranian revolution. SOURCE

So, is he hoping to put our military at risk for becoming victims of another massive terrorist attack (the Beirut bombing was the single largest attack against Americans until 9/11), or is he hoping that more of our diplomats will be taken hostage? What romantic daydream is he having to say that we had such wonderful dealings with the Muslims 20-30-years ago?

Does he ignorantly believe that he can tell these people that we are not their enemies and that they will magically stop hating us? Is he really as stupid and naive as Carter was?

I have been reading some of the Carter Defense Budget narrative. It’s scary. I can not believe the idiocy that is displayed in that document. The Heritage Foundation has a very well written critique (it’s an archived document with some ASCII text bleeding through, but it’s readable) from which we might all gleen some valuable lessons.

Carter said in his inaugural address that he wished to remove all nuclear weapons from the face of the planet.

Lesson #1: Be smarter and wiser than your enemy. Carter may have wanted to eliminate all evil and mean things from the planet, but it didn’t happen — and it isn’t going to happen. We had (and still have) very real enemies who have and who will continue to seek to destroy us based on our lifestyle, our freedom and our democracy. Let’s face it, there will always be haters. There are always seasons that mankind faces, and sometimes those seasons call for war. When we are facing a mortal threat to our freedom, one thing is certain — if we beat our swords into plowshares, we will be at the mercy of any Nation that does not!

Carter blamed the Ford Administration for the over-attention and concern about the Soviets. He felt that the Ford Administration was doing this to justify increasing the Defense budget. Sound familar? It sounds like Carter didn’t think the Soviets were really “that” big of a problem. No, it was all a figment of Ford’s imagination — a lot like the threat of terrorism was just a figment of Bush’s imagination. Right? Riiiiggghhht.

Lesson #2: Having a real and present enemy eying your Country and Her citizens as potential victims is a damn good reason to up the freaking military budget.

Carter wanted to have “bilateral conversations” with the Soviets. They were obviously misunderstood men who just needed to know that we heard them, understood what they were saying and that we cared. He only anticipated the best case scenario and certainly did not anticipate that the Soviets would gain the upper-hand. He ASSumed that if we cut back our nuclear payload, then they would see we weren’t a threat and they would do likewise. Are you all following this? Does this sound like the same BS blowing out of Washington right now, in 2009?

Lesson #3: They are not misunderstood. Nor do they misunderstand us. They do exactly what they are intend to do. Here’s a quote from bin Laden on the 9/11 attacks — please tell me what part of this makes anyone think that they did anything because America is “mean:”

“On the blessed Tuesday 11 September 2001 … they launched their attacks with their planes in an unparalleled and magnificent feat of valor, unmatched by any in humankind before them. … Yet with the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York, there occurred an even bigger destruction: that of the great American Dream and legend of Democracy.” (Translation Of Purported Bin Laden Audio Message, Posted On Islamist Site, 2/14/03)

It’s not about you. It’s about the Democracy, dummy. Doh!

Well, the end of this rant comes with me airing out publicly my real fear of the events that are unfolding. Fox reported that Obama is demanding that the Pentagon take a 10% budget cut — that is around $55 billion.

Let me get this straight.

1. Congress gave themselves a raise.

2. Obama just had the most expensive Inauguration party in the history of our Country — including the cost of the security (well and clean up since the party goers trashed the hell out of DC and defaced public property — so much for doing away with childish things, but I digress…),

3. And, we are paying now for overseas abortions and other spending that IS NOT even a Constitutional use of OUR tax dollars including a massive “so-called” stimulus package that pours billions of dollars into pet liberal projects.

4. BUT, our military needs their budget cut???

Mmkay. What am I missing here?

Our military is at war. I know that Obama didn’t vote for the war. He has mentioned that a billion times (hey we don’t do thousands and millions any more … now it’s billions and trillions!). I know he has stated emphatically that he still does not support the troop surge into Iraq — even though it has proven to be a success (I guess he hates that something worked).

This is what has this Army mom enraged:

Obama is taking money from our troops though He is still sending our men and women to the Middle East, and is planning  a new troop surge into Afghanistan. It’s happening. Our men and women are being told right now to get ready for it. My son will be sent early to the “Stan,” once again, with limited training and ahead of his original schedule. What scares me now is he is going under a CIC who thinks that you can surge the military on a cut budget. More men, more time, more equipment and LESS money to do it on.

Maybe he expects our soldiers to pull it out of thin air. I don’t know folks. I don’t know. All I do know is there is no change in Washington. Not one single damned thing has changed. In fact its’ gotten worse. What we have is a regurgitation of the childish foolishness of the Carter years. And we all saw where THAT got us… we all saw those brave Marines pulled from the rubble of their barracks to be laid to rest. They never stood a chance because they had a fool who was calling the shots for them.

I don’t know what Obama is planning. I don’t know what he thinks he will do. He is more concerned with how we are viewed by others than how much they hated us to begin with. He is taking my son’s time in garrison away from him early, sending him to Afghanistan, and cutting the budget that is supposed to ensure my son has proper and adequate equipment, gear, weapons and man power.

He’s not going to get what he needs, is he?

Trish, I didn’t realize your dh had gone back to Iraq.

It’s scary times, for sure. It’s not that I believe any one man can keep all of our troops perfectly safe (well outside of our Lord!) However, I do believe that bad decisions made by the President can and does put them in jeopardy!

Hang in there. Does he have a long deployment?

Yes! All absolutely truly as you write it here. I have also been working on a piece about all this. Not ready to get it out there yet BUT, I have been around in north America long enough to remember ALL these things – and more – than you describe. And..just today, I read a looooong piece on Hamas intentions (read kill all the Jews and infidels worldwide), all the while BHO is cutting the military budget. I swear the man is insane.

Reminds me of the bully in the playground:

How many times does he have to signal/tell you he IS going to whack you, before you get the first hit in? Standing there and saying “oh I understand why you might want to do that. My behaviour annoys you…” or something like that. ;)

My heart and my brain is soooo overloaded with the insanity I see, I just can’t write articulately about it all – yet! I will, of course!

BUT in the meantime, thank YOU, Claire..thank you..
