Equality is not the goal
Special rights, anyone? Our morally challenged majority believes that gays should have, not an equal amount of protection, but a special amount of protection. Mkay. Gays already have EQUAL protection under the law so what’s this really about?
First here’s a good commentary…

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) have quietly re-introduced the federal thought crimes bill, H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009.
As has proved to be true in both Europe and Canada, this Orwellian piece of legislation is the direct precursor to freedom killing and speech chilling “hate speech” laws.
It represents a thinly veiled effort to ultimately silence – under penalty of law – morally, medically and biblically based opposition to the homosexual lifestyle. The bill is expected to be marked up Wednesday before the full House Judiciary Committee.
Under the 14th Amendment, victims of violent crime are currently afforded equal protection under the law regardless of sexual preference or proclivity. If passed, H.R. 1913 will change all that.
It overtly and, most likely, unconstitutionally discriminates against millions of Americans by granting federally preferred status, time, and resources to individuals who define their identity based upon aberrant sexual behaviors (i.e., “gay” and lesbian “sexual orientation” or cross-dressing “gender identity”).
Of course, this entire concept flies in the face of the 14th Amendment.
It inarguably codifies unequal protection under the law, creating a two-tiered justice system made up of first-class victims such as those who self-identify as homosexual or “transgender” and second-class victims such as the elderly, children, pregnant women, veterans, the homeless and others who choose not to engage in homosexual or cross-dressing behaviors. And here’s an interesting look at other possible motives behind the push for this legislation:

But several religious liberties groups oppose the measure, saying it is unnecessary and would limit free speech and potentially leave religious figures that speak against homosexuality open to prosecution.
“Violent crime is already illegal and there are already penalties available – a gradient of penalties based on severity,” said Matt Barber, director of cultural policy for Liberty Counsel, a religious rights organization.
“What’s more,” he said, “every American currently, regardless of their sexual preference, is guaranteed the same equal protection under the law.”
What hate-crimes laws do, Barber said, is “take the focus off the crime itself and instead puts the focus on the opinion of the alleged perpetrator.”
“It becomes a thought crime and not a hate crime,” he told CNSNews.com.
Thanks to hate-crimes laws in Canada and in the European Union, Christian groups have already become targets for hate-speech prosecution, Barber pointed out.
“Hate-crimes legislation (in other countries), which is basically identical to the proposed U.S. legislation for all intents and purposes, has turned out to be the precursor to even more oppressive hate-speech legislation, which directly squashes any opposition to the homosexual lifestyle or even affirmatively promoting traditional sexual morality,” he added. Geert Wilders anyone? You now the Dutch Politician who Islam is demanding be punished for exercising his freedom of speech (sign this petition in his support if you haven’t already). This legislation is sounding a lot like a mechanism for controlling speech and expression than it is protecting a segment of the population.
And then antoher must read: The Pedophilia Link…
