Our hearts are with them…
Today is the 14-year anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. It was the largest terrorist attack on US soil, until 9/11. I remember hearing about it at the local community college where I was taking some classes. My youngest son, Nate, was 4-years old at the time and he was in the daycare center at the College. I got in my car and went and picked him up. The news made me sick — literally. When I got to the daycare center, the workers were in shock.
It’s amazing how we, as Americans, are connected to one another. When the US Citizens in Oklahoma City suffered such a horrific attack from a lunatic madman, we all looked on their grief with the feeling of “there but the grace of God…” We all knew that it could have happened in our own city.
I personally find a lot of comfort in the Holy Scriptures and in many of the old hymns. This one in particular is always a comfort to me when I think about the fear that man can bring on man. We know we are to fear God alone with a fear that drives us to His Mercy.
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

Funny, I didn’t hear a lot about this in the MSM. Maybe I just wasn’t listening. I did hear a lot about Columbine. What’s the difference? Both are evil actions from evil people.
