From the peanut gallery

You good folks would not believe how incredibly busy I am these days. I don’t even believe it myself, but alas I run, run, do and do some more. It’s good and will slow down soon for me. I promise more writing very soon.

Yesterday Emma and I were in the car running some errands. I had to reinforce a boundary with her that I had set earlier in the day. She pushed, and I pushed back — metaphorically speaking that is. So, she finally gave up and gave in, but she was resentful that she couldn’t break my will. I told her I am the authority over her… and that it is my job to teach her things she needs to know — even when she doesn’t like it.

She folded her arms in her car seat, and “harumph” she let me know she was not happy — AT ALL!

Emma: Well, my papa is nicer than you are!

Me: Yes, Emma he is very kind isn’t he?

Emma: My papa has more authority than you!

Me: Yes, Emma he does. Isn’t that wonderful?

Emma: Well, my papa is smarter than you!

Me: Yes, I know that, and I am so grateful that he is such a smart man!

Emma: He’s stronger than you!

Me: Yes, and braver too! God knows exactly what I needed, so He blessed me with papa.

Emma: Well he’s more handsome.

Me: Oh he is much nicer looking than I am! I have always thought that.

Emma: (silently thinking…) Fine!

Me: Fine!

Never use a woman’s husband against her in an argument when she truly believes he is her better half. It only annoys the aggressor and reaffirms to the woman how wonderful her husband is.
