Help our Marines in Afghanistan
I got the following in an email from Move America Forward. I linked to their campaign at the bottom. They are seeking funding to help supply these 4000 Marines with added items they need in the Afghanistan heat.

Over this Fourth of July weekend, Americans here at home crowded around the barbeque for hot dogs and hamburgers and watched the fireworks at night to celebrate our great nation’s 223rd birthday. Meanwhile, our troops continued fighting the war against the Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan. Our Marines launched a huge assault over the holiday weekend.
When our forefathers declared that America would be an independent nation in 1776, they knew they would have to fight for it. To gain our freedom, America’s Army, Navy and Marines had to fight a costly, bloody war against the largest, most feared military in the world and, through tenacity and great sacrifice, they were triumphant.
Our troops today carry on that legacy as they fight against the terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. Four Thousand Marines endure intense heat to support Operation Khanjar.
You may not realize it as the news covers President Obama’s trip to Russia and last week’s passing of Michael Jackson, but right now the war in Afghanistan is more intense than ever. Over the weekend, 4,000 US Marines were deployed into the Helmand region of southern Afghanistan.
They are pushing towards the many cities and towns that litter the oppressive landscape. These towns are strongholds of the Taliban, which has taken a strong defensive position, and our troops have fought for days to push them out and liberate the cities from the terrorists.
Highly equipped and trained to kill the enemy with extreme efficiency, our Marines are superior warriors and the Taliban is no match for them. But according to reports, our Marines are carrying heavy loads in extreme weather.
Our troops are putting themselves out there and sacrificing their own bodies to complete their mission and protect our security. Some carry packs of equipment and weapons that weigh more than 150 pounds! After trudging through the hot desert, with sweat pouring off them, Marines need something to help them recover their energy!
Here’s where you can help them. Move America Forward has a “Honor Their Service” campaign where you can send a single package to a single Marine, or you can send boxes all the way up to a full Battalion!
