Jim Needs Your Help!
For those who have been coming to KDH for sometime will know the name Jim Spiri. We have featured an article by Jim and I also wrote an article about Jim and his adventures as a military parent and a combat photographer.
In the radio show where I interview Jim (see my sidebar — it’s the Memorial Day show) he told me then that he had one good mission left in him. He has been conditioning himself and getting himself ready to walk the terrain of Afghanistan with a camera in his hand — a camera that he intends to use to send pictures back home to families and citizens. Jim’s heart is for the troops. He and his wife have worked many days, weeks, months with our troops — sometimes loading the wounded. Jim and his wife have buried their Marine and have supported their other son who is a soldier through, now, a fourth deployment.
Hank, Damon and myself are all working on getting the funds raised to support Jim in his mission. Very soon you will see an announcement and see pictures posted about a piece of fine art that is being painted by none other than Damon (Delta Bravo Sierra artist). The painting is of Marines in Fallujah and is from one of Jim’s pictures. We also have some of Jim’s former works to offer for sale. All proceeds go directly to Jim and will fund his mission.
So, what can you do today? Jim is in need of frequent flyer miles. Here is the information. If you do not have these kinds of miles, please PASS this along to every one you know. These miles could fund the entire plane ticket Jim needs to get him to Kuwait — he will start there, go into Iraq and spend the last leg of his journey in Afghanistan.
Here’s what you can do:
We need miles on United Air Lines. If you or someone you know can donate, please use the following information:

Aww, I think I have frequent flyer miles on Delta. Are they transferrable?
Didn’t Jim have a blog while he was in Iraq? I remember reading “Jim Spiri ~ In Iraq” some time back. But now it’s gone from the webs… Wishing he had left it up for posterity.
I’ll see what I can scrounge up. I always appreciate more info coming from and about Afghanistan.
but you all knew that.
