Precious little? Yes, but precious still.
I’m just a cartoonist but …
I am very concerned with what I see as political haggling over and about af-stan. My first concern is, of course, the lives of our good soldiers who are standing in the line of fire. My next concern is for the security of our nation if we fail or cut and run in the face of a mortal enemy. My last concern thought by no means least is the cost to the people of A-Stan who support us.
So, I read stuff. I read Lt.Col. P over at www.op-for.com among others. I also read what the Warrior Legacy Foundation puts out (by the way, you should join them if you haven’t already). I read a few other things here and there. I was particularly struck by what Lt.Col.P at op-for had to say last week about how precious little we had to show for our efforts in A-stan from the past 8 (eight for myfriends in DC) years.
His words caused me to remember, “Raise up a child in the way it should go and when it is old it shall not depart from it.”
By and large there are a great number of children in A-stan who have no memory of what their country and lives were like without Americans present. Any that we have provided for in a positive way are in the cusp of becoming adults … give us 4 to 8 (that’s four to eight again for my DC friends) more years and we will have generations on our side. That is if we execute COIN correctly.
This is a generational effort in A-stan. We are on the cusp.
That aspect of the strategy is not being discussed. I don’t know why.
Ah, what do I know. I’m just a stupid cartoonist. It aint’ even that good a cartoon. I’ll go crawl back in my hole now…

Stupid little cartoonist? Well that makes me the wife of a stupid little cartoonist! How insulting! lol It’s true that we have to keep our eyes focused on the treasures lest we get discouraged by the thieves.

I LOVE your cartoons….Just sayin’………and as for the children? For me, it is ALL about the children. I have recently focussed on a couple of the kids there, and it boggles my mind that “those people” (you all know who I mean…….lol) can’t seem to grasp the simple concept that those children – who our politicians are preparing to walk away from – will be the future of Afghanistan. On the cusp, indeed….
Keep up the great work, Mr Hooah! Your cartoon makes a difference., NOTHING *stupid* about that……

My Dear Friend Mr. Hooah,
You’re leaving behind at least a legacy of record that demonstrates its unabashed support of those in Harm’s Way. I’m sure your documentation through DBS of the absurdity will stand well in perspective but the battle is now. As you may be inspired to draw, you’ve distracted me yet again to pen. I’ll post the rest under my profile but here’s a portion.
The Day Damnation Was On Sale
The dragon I rather prefer
To the typical political cur
Barbed tail and fire
To a sycophant liar
Forsake the brave that were
My regret is that I’m not quite the Coffee Baron I aspire to be in order that my bully pulpit was a bit more effective. Like yours, DBS which continues to grow and inspire, I look forward to the day when we’re more of a voice and influence. Until that time I will enjoy the voice I have. (Thank you Claire)

My hope in this Administration’s support the warfighter diminishes with each passing day. I hope to remain respectful but how many times does a General have to ask for support?
